SENIOR POWER ELECTRONICS ENGINEER
Number one in marine and offshore industries and number three in worldwide Oil, Gas and Process Industries, our client is a worldwide specialist in Power Conversion, providing customized solutions to convert electrical energy through optimum application of technology in drives, controls, motors and generators.
Purpose:
• To specify, design, test and document power electronic systems for multi megawatt drive systems
• To work as part of a multi-skilled team, taking full responsibility for small to medium sized designs plus subsystems within large designs.
Main Tasks and Activities:
• Specify, design, test and document power electronic systems. Including electrical design, selection of components and review of designs and calculations.
• Application or development of engineering standards
• Taking a lead role within a multi-skilled team of engineers, draughtsmen, technicians and /or test engineers.
• Supervision of technicians and test engineers as required.
• Specification, design or use of computer simulation and calculation tools.
• Occasional working away from the office to support tenders, acceptance tests and contracts
• Provisional of technical advice and assistance to Sales and tendering teams.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties, and incumbents are expected to undertake all reasonable duties as requested.
Qualifications/Training
• Degree level or equivalent in electrical/electronic or Chartered Engineer (Engineering)
Experience:
• Five to ten years in engineering design, manufacturing, testing or research environment
• Power switching converter – AC- DC and/or DC-AC
• Experience of IGBT based drives
• Good understanding of power semiconductor devices technology
• Knowledge of drives control systems, Real-time, PLC or simulation programming (Matlab, Pspice)
• Power system/power generation

• Full UK driving license
Circumstances
• Willing to travel within UK and overseas for short term working
