| 1407 | Design Engineer, Excitation Contol Systems Rugby DESIGN ENGINEER, EXCITATION CONTROL SYSTEMS £Negotiable 30-45k Number one in marine and offshore industries and number three in worldwide Oil, Gas and Process Industries, our client is a worldwide specialist in Power Conversion, providing customized solutions to convert electrical energy through optimum application of technology in drives, controls, motors and generators. Purpose: • Responsible for the design of all types of excitation, synchronising and protection equipment for synchronous motors and generators, for both general industry and the utilities. Main Tasks and Activities: • Responsible for the project engineering, tendering, development and testing activities associated with excitation control systems. • Setting up, testing and occasional commissioning of analogue and digital control systems. • Responsible for technical liaison with both suppliers and customers. • Provision of technical advice and investigations in support of factory, site or warranty issues. Essential Qualifications/Training • Degree qualified in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Experience: Experience in the design and application of excitation systems, preferably including static and digital systems and have a background in power electronics and small signal electronics, including closed loop control. Circumstances • Occasionally involving commissioning work, investigation or Sales support, requiring travel both in the UK and abroad. Desirable Qualifications and Training: • Chartered Engineer (CEng). • Experience in the use of PLC's (GE Fanuc, Alspa) would be a distinct advantage and knowledge of generator and motor protection would be beneficial. • Self motivated and innovative.
